Clarification On Ad Block Change

Monday, April 10, 2006

I’ve re-read my post from yesterday and it is somewhat unclear…even to me. So let me try again. The change I made to how ad blocks are tagged with Clickbank ID’s is actually reset on a daily basis. So, everyday you start by showing ads tagged with the Clickbank ID’s of your upline sponsors. After you have displayed you ad block(s) to 5 unique visitors in any given day, the ads you display are all tagged with your Clickbank ID. The following table makes this a little more clear:

Ad Number Visitors 1 Thru 5 See: Visitors 6 And Higher See:
1 Sponsor 4’s ID Your ID
2 Sponsor 3’s ID Your ID
3 Sponsor 2’s ID Your ID
4 Sponsor 1’s ID Your ID

!

I hope this makes the policy change a little easier to understand. Again, I’d like to stress that I am constantly monitoring the stats generated by the system and as I get more data, it’s possible that I’ll change the daily unique visitor break point. The goal is to bring value to all of you whether you’re driving hundreds of visitors a day to your site or only 3.

If you have any observations, comments, or suggestions about this change, please feel free to post a comment here or email me directly.

New Features And Comments On The First Week

Sunday, April 9, 2006

Wow! Open only one week and what a response! I’ve received many comments, the vast majority of which have been very positive. If you’ve sent me a comment but haven’t received a response, be patient with me. I’ll respond just as quickly as I can.

I’ve also gotten a lot of feedback concerning new features you’d like to see in BetterTextAds.com. Well, ask and you shall receive. This week, I’ve implemented one new ad format and one change in how affiliate ID’s are attached to ads.

The new format is the 728×90 Leaderboard format. This was hands-down the most requested format from the comments I received. It accommodates 4 text ads arranged horizontally with a single bottom border containing your BetterTextAds.com referral link.

The affiliate ID change is a little less straightforward to explain, but I’ll give it my best shot. Originally, the system only displayed the affiliate ads of your upline when you displayed an ad block on your site. This arrangement was fine if you personally don’t have a lot of traffic to your website. But, it’s unfair to those who drive a great deal of traffic to their sites. Now, upline ads are displayed on your site until you’ve displayed the ad blocks to 5 unique visitors. After that, your affiliate ads are displayed. I think this will be much more equitable and will attract web masters who can drive lots of traffic. And that will be beneficial to all of us.

If you have any questions or comments about these changes, please feel free to post them here.
